Who We Are

The CSBI is a home for Canadian breast imaging professionals and patients to discuss best practices, pressures on the system and to celebrate successes. The CSBI will also be a focused vehicle to bring breast imaging stories from Canada to the rest of the world and vice versa. To save life years and improve quality of life through early detection of breast cancer, to promote excellence in breast imaging and quality education and  to provide trusted information to patients, physicians, and organizations across Canada.

This Privacy Policy describes how the CSBI will protect the privacy of your  personal information in its possession. It addresses the reasons why such information is collected, how it is used, how it is confidentially protected and outlines your rights with respect to this information.

The CSBI is committed to keeping your personal information accurate, confidential, secure and private. When you visit our website, contact us, participate in one of our events, or make a payment to become a member to support our activities, we are committed to protecting your privacy rights and your personal information.

Personal information is defined as any factual or subjective information, recorded or not, about an identifiable individual. Examples are name, email, addresses and telephone numbers.

What Personally Identifiable Information is Collected

We collect personally identifiable information about you during the signup process as well as some basic activities such as the dates you make purchases, login to the site, or cancel/pause/resume your subscriptions with us. Individuals that sign up to receive our electronic communications, such as newsletters, voluntarily provide us with contact information (such as name and email address). We may use this information for specific, limited purposes. You may always “opt out,” either now or at any time in the future, if you do not wish to receive our communications.

How You Can Update Your Information

It is important that the personal information held by the CSBI about you is accurate and current. We ask that you keep your personal information up to date by logging into your account and making changes when needed. 

Who On Our Team Has Access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, site owners/administrators can access order information such as your membership subscriptions, payment dates and amounts, and username / email address.

Any additional information added in your Member Profile can also be visible to the Administrator(s).

Who We Share Your Data With

CSBI does not disclose personal information without your consent or except as may be permitted or required by law. In order to render services to our members, we do share your information with third-party payment providers in order to deliver core membership site functionality, including:

  • Payment gateway
  • Email marketing services
  • Analytics providers

How Your Information May Be Used

We use your personal information for the main purpose of contacting you via communication channels such as email, newsletters, telephone, and standard mail. We also use your personal information to process your membership application, and register you for an event. You may choose to opt out at any time, which will cease all communications from us. General information may be used for statistical purposes.

We may also use your information to track visitors to our website. This lets us see which of our features are the most popular so we can better serve our users’ needs. It also lets us provide aggregate data about our traffic (not identifying you personally, but showing how many visitors used which features.

How Long We Retain Your Data

We store information about you for as long as your account exists. Your account may be kept while inactive for reporting purposes and to provide a historical perspective if you choose to renew a lapsed membership.

IP addresses

The CSBI may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer csbi.ca, and for statistical metrics used to track website visitor traffic.

Payments

We accept payments through Stripe. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to Stripe, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.

The Canadian Society of Breast Imaging website contains links to third party websites. These links do not fall under CSBI’s domain, and the CSBI is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of third party websites. The existence of a link does not constitute approval or endorsement by the CSBI of the linked web site, which is provided as a convenience only.
