Virtual Tomosythesis Workshop

This virtual simulation workshop for Radiologists is designed to provide individual instruction in tomosynthesis interpretation while reviewing clinical tomosynthesis data sets with accompanying standard mammography. This workshop will feature a hands-on case review and interpretation.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Interpret digital breast tomosynthesis images in the accurate detection of breast disease, including breast carcinoma
  • Compare the findings of a 2D synthetic image with those of a DBT image
  • Review up to 40 clinical cases in real-time on a dedicated breast tomosynthesis work station to identify impact of work flow and diagnosis


  • Digital Breast Tomosynthesis: Introduction, Radiation Dose & Synthetic mammogram- 20 min
  • Keypad and Workstation Training on a training case set – 20 min
  • Case Review Set 1 – 40 min
  • Faculty lead review -20 min
  • Appearance of breast cancer on tomosynthesis – 20 min
  • Case Review Set 2- 40 min
  • Faculty lead review – 20 min
